With the song Apríkósur (e. apricots) Ari Árelíus reminds you to stop and have some fruit. The oxymoron of desiring what you already have comes into play. In Iceland a relatively short time has passed since it was possible to have fruit on your table, people still remember how an apple was a delicacy only enjoyed at Christmas. In our capitalist society we are constantly taunted to desire more, have more experiences, catch them all so being radical can be seen as contentment. Fixating on the small things like enjoying the wondrous fruit.
The songs obvious Bossa Nova influence juxtaposed with the harsh Icelandic language underscores this abundance of resources available to many.
